The refill process can be quite tricky for beginners but it's nothing that can't be mastered after the first attempt. First things first! You won't be able to refill an empty toner cartridge without securing the necessary materials beforehand. Below is a checklist of the items you'll need.

Make sure that purchased refill toner color corresponds to the cartridge's color specification. Out of the box, inspect if toner refill kit is supplied with a bottle of fresh toner, 1 pouring spout or funnel cap, latex gloves, lint free cloths and an instructional material. Preparing the Refill Tool
Since HP cartridges are the burn and fill type, users will need to use the holing tool to access the toner hopper. Plug the holing tool into an electrical outlet. Wait for 3 minutes until such time that the copper tip is fully heated.
Clearing the Waste Hopper
HP toner cartridges are designed with a mechanism called the waste hopper from where waste toner collects. Therefore, accumulated toner needs to be emptied before fresh toner powder can be loaded into the cartridge.
Locate the waste hopper section of the cartridge. The instructional manual will illustrate through photos the exact spot where a hole must be created. Creating a Second Hole A second hole will have to be created on the rear side of the cartridge to be able to access the toner hopper during the refill.

Refilling the Hopper.
Retrieve toner bottle from the toner refill kit and shake gently to loosen toner particles. Attach firmly the funnel cap over the mouth of the bottle. Position the tip of the funnel cap over the second hole and let toner flow into the hopper. Once cartridge is reasonably filled, seal the hole with an electrical tape.
Following the refill, give the toner cartridge a gentle shake to distribute evenly the fresh toner power filling the toner hopper. Now you have just successfully refilled an HP 2600 toner cartridge with a compatible HP 2600 toner refill kit. Load the cartridge into the laser printer to enjoy another cycle of laser printing.
